Transitioning into FALL

Hello Lovelies!

It is that time of year again where you cannot go anywhere without seeing fall everything! All the stores are packed full of fall decorations, fashion outfits and a pumpkin spice latte.   Here in the south it is still pretty warm so transitioning pieces are important. I still want to look the part by wearing those deep fall colors and bringing out the booties but I need pieces that will be cooler during the day and warmer at night.  I recently purchased two pieces I am in love with for transitioning into fall.

I purchased the sipping bubbly shift dress in navy from Impressions  this dress is only $26 and comes in 4 colors! It’s the perfect comfy dress to wear now in the daytime heat with my favorite wedge sandals but throw on my favorite overlay and booties for those cool fall nights.  Changing the shoes from sandals to booties will make any outfit feel more like fall!

I purchased the Glamorous Girl Leopard Overlay from Impressions for $29!  Leopard is one of my favorite colors for fall.  The brown, cream and black go with everything in your closet I promise! Here I’m wearing it with shorts and booties which later I can easily put on my favorite skinny jeans! Add a red plaid blanket scarf for a pop of fun!

I suggest buying a couple statement pieces that you can mix and match to transition into those cool fall nights.  Pick up a few accessories too they can make many of your favorite summer looks transition into fall.   I hope this gave you some ideas on how to shop now for those pieces you can wear later too.

Everything just depends on how you style it!

Last Chance White Pants

We are just a few days away from Labor Day.  I find Labor Day to be an interesting fashion holiday.  Labor Day marks the end of summer and no more white!  Even though it will still be super-hot here in the south for another month.  In the fashion, world it means time to put away white and bring out the fur vests and boots! So why did Labor Day become a fashion holiday?  I did do some research to find out!
  1. Wearing white in the summer because it is so hot makes sense. White reflects light making it a lot cooler than wearing darker colors.
  2.  In the mid-1800's, the wealthy ruled the systems and created a lot of fashion rules to separate themselves from the other people in society.  They wore white on vacations to show their status while the lower class worked away in black suits all summer because they couldn’t afford not to work.
  3. Labor Day became a federal holiday in 1894.  Later on it became known for marking the end of summer.
  4. In the 1950’s, the fashion industry determined white was only worn after Memorial Day and before Labor Day.
So there you have it!  A very brief summary of why white became unacceptable after the first Monday in September.

Raised in the south, I was taught no white shoes or handbags until Easter.  Every year I always got a new pair of crisp white shoes to wear to church Easter Sunday.  Usually accessorized with a big hat and a cute little white purse.  Since Easter is always way before Memorial Day, is this just a fashion loophole for the south?

A couple of my blogger friends, my mom and I all took pictures in our white pants for the last time this summer. You should check out Brittany (@brittrake12)  and Ashley (@ashleyanneruiz).  You will love their accounts!

Now that we are approaching fall and winter are you a rule breaker or a rule follower?  I believe the fashion industry created winter white as a way to break the traditional rules (another loophole? I think so!).  The light cream color of winter white has become a huge trend over the last few years. I actually love the creamy color.  It’s so easy to wear and goes great with all my cute booties, fur vests and blanket scarves! Bring on the winter white!!
